Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group is a New York-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly after. Corcoran is among ABC's original Shark Tank investors. Since her inception she has appeared on each season of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals in February 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran, who was the second of 10 children from a Catholic family with a low-income, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving between jobs and another throughout Corcoran’s childhood. Her family often depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father, who was a drunk at times excessively, and behaved towards her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran was a struggling student throughout school. She later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an area Catholic elementary school, and then began high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite failing several courses during her first year of high school.
